Boarding & Lodging: Pets
visiting Bokhara will have an enjoyable & rewarding
experience with all of our fresh country air and the clean
indoor/outdoor areas for pet lodging and exercise. Located right
on Elk Lake and very close to the
Grand Traverse Bay, and Torch Lake.

Private CAGE FREE Boarding
Each Bokhara Pet Resort canine guest will receive their very
own private enclosure with their own attached outdoor
exercise patio area accessed through a pet door. All
of our canine patio accommodations have both an indoor and
outdoor areas with FREE access to the outside at will.
Our indoor boarding pets have access to an outside patio 3-4
times during the day. Not a single Bokhara guest is
boarded in a cage for we provide extremely large
indoor/outdoor safe and secure accommodations.

Community Boarding
We do not provide shared/co-mingled overnight pet boarding
unless the roommates are members of your family household.
From our long experience in the pet industry, and our
extensive knowledge of dog behavior, we do not believe it is
at all safe for your pet to be co-boarded with
other strange dogs while you are away. We believe it
is trying enough for your pet just to be separated from you
overnight without adding the additional stress of being forced
to co-board with multiple strange dogs who your pet is not
familiar with and who are not part of
your family group.
At Bokhara we work very hard to make sure your pet
has an enjoyable and SAFE experience while you are
away. We do offer Group Day Care for those
dogs who have had the opportunity to acclimate to that form of
play sessions.

Guests
are not boarded in small cages nor in the same areas as dogs such as
your veterinarian or other kennels may use, but our
purr...line guests are quartered in large suites all
containing play and climbing toys, comfy sleeping beds and extra
large litter boxes - all within a completely separate, quiet,
very quaint, and
unique antique late 1800's era guest cottage.
Bokhara provides
CAGE-FREE feline boarding in our large suites
(Library & Playroom), and in our Standard 8' x 8' feline
accommodation suites located in an old
Victorian cottage.

Owners Live 24/7 on the Premises.....
Though we have open and closed
office hours, the owners live right on the property and oversee
the welfare of our resort guests during and outside of the normal office
hours 24/7. Active monitoring is in place at all times
with physical bed checks performed several times each
evening and during the night.
Our goal at Bokhara is to provide a environment
that nurtures both the emotional and physical needs of our
guests while keeping them safe and secure. Yummy snacks & treats
are provided during bed checks while insuring your pet is
always safe, happy and
secure!

Grounds & Facility:
Once you drive down our long wooded driveway and step
through our door at Bokhara, your experience will begin with
a smile, a friendly face, and when you leave, you will leave
with the satisfaction of knowing your pet was in loving and
caring hands. Bokhara Pet Resort & Grooming Spa is
located on 14 acres of lush pine forest, with manicured
lawns and flower gardens.
Bokhara enjoys 300 feet of
private Elk Lake shoreline all for the enjoyment of your
pet and you the owner. We are proud of our commitment to maintaining a
lovely facility for our pet and human guests to enjoy.
Security:
Our boarding facility is
double fenced outside so that boarding guests may not leave the
facility, and also so that unwanted guests may not get into the
facility. Our outer perimeter fencing is from ground to
roofline for that added protection of our guests. Gates
are locked at all times and fire detection equipment is in
place.
